Fully equipped with special instruments for observing solar eclipses members of the LEAP team met to record this celestial event in St George's Park this morning with the aid of not one - but three precision tuned colanders. This fly-eye approach to looking at things happening to the Sun may not be at the cutting edge of cosmology but we are happy with the result all the same. For those unfamiliar with the technology each circle is a reflection of the Sun with the Moon shadow across it. The pictures also pick up the enchanting if slightly disturbing quality of light experienced during eclipses. The birds were very quiet too.
