The LEAP team gathered at the raised beds in St George's Park today to celebrate winning the Grassroots Giving Award from the Skipton Building Society. After the pictures were taken a work party formed to remove all of the Buddleias that had established themselves on the ring road perimeter and were slowly colonising the railings and wildflower borders there. We also put top dressing on two of the raised beds and on the onion patch planted last weekend in the triangular bed. Then we all had a cup of coffee and a biscuit in the lovely clear and frosty Winter sunshine at the repositioned picnic table, picked up litter and made plans for the next phase of Let's Eat the Park - about which Friends of St George's Park committee meet again tomorrow. Park eating is a time consuming activity but also is very much a labour of love - of our park and our community. St George's - The People's Park - Since 1927.
