Last night Spike, Justin & Gavin attended the Worcestershire Compact Awards in the Council Chamber at County Hall in Worcester. The awards celebrated voluntary sector projects that work in partnership with statutory agencies and who are able to demonstrate effective joint working to achieve better outcomes for the community.
There were 38 diverse, unique and amazing projects nominated and every one of them showed how working in partnership achieved better outcomes (it's not rocket science). Every project nominated received a certificate and as each project was asked to come forward to receive them Spike started to look more and more worried that we might actually win (and have to give a speech!).
It came down to the last 3 projects... They asked the 2 projects, who both received special commendations, to come forward and that confirmed the result - FoSG had actually won!
The FoSG nomination stressed how the group had been successful due to the unique 3 way partnership between Friends of St. George's Park (represented by Spike), Vestia Community Trust (represented by Justin) and Wyre Forest District Council (represented by Gavin). So the 3 of us made our way to the front to receive the awards and say a few words.
You can see from the photo that there were 2 wooden handmade awards that represented partnership working. These were made by young people who attend the YSS ASSYST training centre in Worcester, so special thanks to them.
Receiving this award celebrates the commitment and achievements of the whole group under the leadership of Spike and the continued support and partnership working from Vestia Community Trust and Wyre Forest District Council. Well done everyone!
