As a Horsefair/Greenhill urban green space we are closely connected to our sister park at Baxter Gardens which is at the northeastern end of the Let's Eat the Park Project area. It has been six months since the LEAP project began and a lot of groundwork has been achieved. Varieties of fruit and vegetables are ever increasing in St George's Park and now taking off in earnest at Baxter Gardens Park too. We look back on 2014 as an amazing year when we made several successful bids for funding and for other elements of help and support both locally and nationally. We are grateful to the People's Health Trust, Wyre Forest Clinical Commissioning Group, Wyre Forest District Council, the Skipton Building Society Grassroots Giving Project and other individuals and organisations who have contributed in a variety of ways to our projects over the past year including;- the Co-operative Children's Centre, the Prince's Trust, Sainsburys Ltd, Twigs, the Arts Council, St George's Church, Project Dirt, Wyre Forest Islamic Community Group, Kidderminster Educational Fund, Changing Futures Fund, Culture Shapers, Disability Action Wyre Forest and all who have given their time, energy and talents to make 2014 a memorable milestone in the history of both the Friends of St George's Park and the Friends of Baxter Gardens Park. We are already very busy planning the next full year of LEAP, the 6th annual St George's Family Fun and Discovery Day on 25 April and the 3rd KidFest - St George's Park contribution to the Kidderminster Arts Festival in August. Other than all that, we are continuing to organise work parties for volunteer community gardening party animals in both parks, plus a whole host of other activities in Horsefair on the edge of the town centre. If you want to be a part of this ever unfolding world of activity, free food, free entertainment, free discovery and free magical stuff - why not come along to our meeting and help us make 2015 even more fantastic than 2014. Give it a go - come along on Friday 9 January 2015 to the Co-Op Childcare Centre at 7pm - it's on the corner of Coventry Street and Radford Avenue DY10 2BP It would be great to see you there!
