All in All - It's Just Another Brick Off the Wall?
The Friends work party have been busy again this weekend litter picking, weeding, edging paths and generally tidying up the park. People passing through often stop to express their appreciation of what the Friends volunteers do and have done in St George's Park which of course is very encouraging to us all. We have now begun the process of preparing a wall close to the Silver Street entrance for a joint community arts project involving Kidderminster Creatives, Wyre Forest District Council and FoSGP to create an artwork in the park, emphasing the fact that St George's Park is an official partner in Kidderminster Arts Festival. Here are a few pictures of FoSGP in action as work starts on the ugly and redundant wall in need of repair and a purpose. The Friends group intend to work with our partners to make this wall a symbol of recovery visible from St George's Ring Way. We are hoping to see the wall converted from an eyesore to a focal point of the People's Park and the story of its resurrection as a valued urban green space on the ring road.
