We had a very enjoyable and productive half-day at Kidderminster Town Hall with colleagues and campaigners old and new. The growing interest in sustainability even triumphed over the roadworks that have closed off some of the normal access points to the building itself. Undaunted, there were a wide variety of green causes and initiatives represented at the event, and people were taking a great deal of interest in them. We met a lot of informative and interesting people representing everything from green energy to a bicycle powered smoothie machine, up-cycling workshop, providers of environmentally friendly goods and services of ever increasing diversity and ecological campaign groups. We would especially like to thank the 60 plus people of all ages that came to speak to us and who took an interest in Let's Eat the Park. Nine people signed up to go on the FoSGP mailing list and several expressed an interest in participating in a work party or attending our next meeting on 5 February at the Youth House. Eleven people contributed suggestions of what we should plant in the park, Oliver aged 7 asked for apples so he is already quite well catered for by LEAP, less so the person who suggested walnuts and we regret to say that the person who asked us to grow olives may also be disappointed. However, with climate change who knows - which brings us back to the Greener Living event which went really well. Congratulations to Wyre Forest District Council and Transition Kidderminster for organising an excellent local networking event. For more info on this please click LEAP Blog button on the right ->
