It's August Bank Holiday, fingers crossed for the weather. There won't be a work party this week even the Friends take some time off occasionally. Next Friday 2 September we have our regular meeting at the Youth House in Bromsgrove Street at 7pm and the next day Saturday 3 September another LEAP work party in St George's Park, meet at the shelter at 10am.
Everyone interested in our projects is welcome at either/both events where free light refreshments are also available.
Last Saturday's work party included in its tasks erecting the railings we raised the funds for around the oak tree planted over 5 years ago by the Duke of Kent. As the pictures show the sapling has thrived and had outgrown the mesh tree guard originally protecting it.
The new railings were commissioned by the Friends group to give a more sturdy and historically fitting surround to the tree and Spike has also removed the comemorative plaque and taken it away to restore it. The slideshow begins with a couple of images from the planting and a few of the railings going up.
Happy Holiday!
